A fraction collector consists of an electrophoresis assembly (A) for separating samples and an assembly (B) which detects and registers the components by optical methods. The novelty is that a fractionating assembly (C) fractionates the components and a control assembly (13, 14) controls the fractionating assembly using signals derived from the signals registered (B).
