The casting core composition includes: refractory grains containing, as a main component, mullite grains; and a binder for binding the refractory grains. The refractory grains are substantially spherical in shape and in a range of from 78 to 110 in terms of sand grain size according to American Foundrymen's Society. The binder amounts to a range of from 1.0 to 2.2 wt% based on the total weight of the refractory grains and the binder. The casting core composition provides a casting core which has a low percentage of contraction and a small amount of deformation even when the casting core is used in casting under a high pressure of at least 800 kgf/cm<2>.
