Binders for acid-resistant, scratch-resistant coating materials

Binders (I) for coating materials are obtd. by radical initiated polymerisation of (a) 99.5-70 wt.% (meth)acrylic monomer(s) and opt. (b) other comonomer(s) in the presence of (c) 0.5-30 wt.% peroxygenated cycloolefin homo- or co-polymer(s). Also claimed is a process for the prodn. of (I) by polymerising (a) and opt. (b) in liq. (c) or in a soln. of (c) in presence of a radical initiator. Also claimed are coating materials (II) contg. (I), together with crosslinker(s), conventional paint additives and opt. pigments and/or fillers.
