A casing (10) containing electrical connection devices (11, 13) is fitted over the electromagnet (20) of the solenoid valve (1). A cavity (12) located in the casing allows the addition of additional circuits (20) to the solenoid valve which may vary according to usage. Examples of the possible circuits to be added to the solenoid valve are elements for cable connections, elements giving a visual indication of the operational state, delay circuits, interference suppression circuits, inherent safety circuits, circuits for detecting the position of the plunger, circuits for detecting the presence of fluid, circuits for logical indexing, etc. The solenoid valve incorporates connecting elements allowing rational electrical linkage without wiring between at least two solenoid valves. This invention simplifies the standardisation of the solenoid valve and hence its manufacture, and also simplifies its installation and its connection in situ because the various devices demanded by users are assembled in the solenoid valve itself.
