Prodn. of an ammonium nitrate-contg. granulate of predetermined grain size involves removing grains of the incorrect size by screening and recycling these grains (at least partially crushed) to the granulator. The novelty is that a granulate with a desired large grain-size ("super-granulate") is recovered in a first screening stage, the undersized grains from which are subjected to a second screening stage to recover a second prod. of a desired finer grain-size. Undersized grains from the second stage are recycled to the granulator. Appts. esp. for the above process, is claimed, including at least one screening machine, an oversized granule outlet, a crusher and a line for recycling crushed granules to a granulator. The novelty is that the first screening machine (6) for recovering a desired coarse fraction (b) is associated with a second screening machine (9) for recovering a desired finer granulate fraction (c). |
