PROCESS FOR THE DECOMPOSITION OF POLYGALACTOMANNANES

A process for the decomposition of polygalactomannanes in which polygalactomannanes are continuously subjected to intensive forced mixing in the presence of water and a high-boiling-point alcohol in an extrusion machine at a temperature above 180 DEG C and the product is removed after passing through the extrusion machine for drying or further processing. The products obtained are used as additives in the processing of textile fibres or as thickeners for aqueous preparations.
