The conveyor has a crank gear (16) which moves a pusher (1) on the driven side to and fro with its continuously driven crank. The length of the crank can be altered in steps. The stroke of the inlet side pusher (3) is transmitted into the stroke of the adjacent pusher (2) in the range of 1/1.2 to 1/1.8. A transmission gear (11) is driven by the adjacent pusher (2) and a traction mechanism (0.9) in the form of a chain or cogged belt is driven by the transmission gear.
