A device for use in forming a joint, the device comprising a female part (50) to be at least partially installed in a recess (56) in one joint member (32) and a male part (52) adapted to be received in the female part. The male part is provided with an expander region (58) comprising a plurality of taper portions (72, 74, 76) for expanding the female part when said male part is moved axially relative to the female part such that an opposite end region thereof moves away from the female part whereby, the female part is securable in said recess (56). The female part (50) comprises a first end portion for insertion in the recess (56) and a second end portion for insertion in a recess (84) in another joint member (42) and an abutment means (86) intermediate said end portions for limiting axial insertion of said second end portion into the recess (84).
