AUTOMATIC PROBE FIXTURE LOADING APPARATUS WITH GIMBALLING COMPENSATION

An automatic fixture loading apparatus which provides for the rapid loading of probes (28) into the bottom plate of a test fixture (60) comprising a replenish station, an elevator storage station having means for storage of a least four cassettes (23) and a fixture loading station having a means for gimballing a mated cassette (23) and fixture (60). All stations are connected via a trolley which automatically moves cassettes (23) between the stations. The loading station provides for a means for providing a gimbal movement (48) to a fixture having a cassette (23) mated thereon to provide for the loading of probes into fixtures in angles of up to 12 degrees and in a non-grid dependent manner. The cassette (23) having cavities (29) of at least .50 inch by .50 inch capable of holding of up to one hundred probes (28).
