Thermotropic aromatic liquid crystalline poly(esteramide)s comprise monomer units A, B, C and D, where A is the dioyl residue of 4,4'-biphenyldicarboxylic acid and optionally one or more other aromatic diacids; B is the dioxy residue of one or more aromatic diols; C is the oxyaroyl residue of 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, 6-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid, or a mixture thereof; and D is derived from 4-aminophenol, 4-aminobenzoic acid, p-phenylenediamine, or 3-aminophenol.
