An optical inspection device, e. g. for checking the position and density of printing on an article 1 such as a cigarette includes a first light transmitting surface 2, and a plurality of light conducting fibres 3 each having one of its ends embodied in said surface, the other ends of the fibres being assembled into three groups 5, 6, 7, each group providing a further light transmitting surface 11, 12, 13. The surfaces 11, 13 confront lamps 14, 15 and light therefrom is transmitted by some of the fibres 3 to the article 1 where it is reflected into fibres of group 6 and travels to a photo-cell 16. Fibres in each group are associated with spaced areas of the surface 2, which areas also contain ends of fibres of at least one other group. |
