NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by the formula Rf-Sx-Rf (Rf is perfluoroalkyl; x is 2-4). EXAMPLE:Perfluorohexyl trisulfide. USE:A working fluid, medicine and agricultural chemical, particularly useful as a special working oil since the compound exhibits a low viscosity even at low temperatures. PREPARATION:A perfluoroolefin is reacted with a sulfur halide in the presence of an alkali fluoride, e.g. KF, CsF or NaF, in a solvent, e.g. DMF, THF, etc., at room temperature - 100 deg.C to afford the aimed compound expressed by the formula Rf-Sx-Rf. The perfluoroolefin is preferably dimer of a >=4C hexafluoropropene. The reaction is carried out using the alkali fluoride in an amount of 2-4 equivalents based on 1 equivalent sulfur halide and the fluoroalkene in an amount of 1-2 equivalents based on 1 equivalent alkali fluoride. |
