PURPOSE:To obtain an antiviral agent having anti-HIV action, comprising a component containing Euphorbia Kansui Liou as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:This antiviral agent contains an extract of Euphorbia Kansui Liou, a fleshy perennial plant or a component squeezed from the plant as an active ingredient. The extraction is carried out by using water or an organic solvent (e.g. ethanol), the prepared extract or squeezed component is directly used as the antiviral agent as it is, or water or the solvent is distilled away under reduced pressure and the extract is concentrated and used, or the extract or the concentrate is dried and used as powder. A diterpene derivative of formula I or II (R1 to R7 each is H, a 1-20C acyl, benzoyl or a 1-5C alkyl; X is carbonyl or CH(OH); R8-R12 are each H, OH, a 1-20C acyloxy, a 1-5C alkoxy, etc.) derived from Euphorbia Kansui Liou or a terpene prepared from Euphorbia Kansui radix is used as an active ingredient to give the objective antiviral agent. The daily dose is about 0.01-500mg/kg. |
