PURPOSE: To predict abrasion of components by recording the count of a counter in response to the pitch of image under processing and normalizing the count as a function of variation of the pitch. CONSTITUTION: A cycle is started (202), and a decision is made whether an 11×17 inch image is present or not. If it is not present, 8.5×11 inch size is assumed and normal counting is carried out (206). When 11×17 inch is detected, a decision is made whether it is the first copy sheet and a counter is incremented by two if it is the first copy sheet (210) otherwise a decision is made whether it is a second subsequent sheet or not. If it is a second sheet, the counter is incremented again by two and a decision is made whether it is a third subsequent image or sheet of 11×17 inch image. If it is a third sheet, the counter is incremented by three. |
