PURPOSE:To produce a high-purity 1,3-cyclohexadiene by controlling the concentration of cyclohexenyl hydroperoxide to a specified range in gas phase dehydration of a mixture containing 2-cyclohexen-1-ol, cyclohexene oxide and 2- cyclohexen-1-one. CONSTITUTION:High-purity 1,3-cyclohexadiene is produced through gas phase dehydration from 2-cyclohexen-1-ol without remarkable activity reduction of a catalyst. In this production, a mixture containing 2-cyclohexen-1-ol, cyclohexene oxide and 2-cyclohexen-1-one is used as a readily available raw material and the concentration of cyclohexenyl hydroperoxide in the raw material mixture is controlled to <=4wt.%, especially <=0.5wt.%. Further, the amount of 2-cyclohexen-1-one in the raw material mixture is preferably within a range of 0.1 to 10wt.% and the weight ratio of 2-cyclohexen-1-ol/cyclohexene oxide in the raw material mixture is preferably within a range of 0.5 to 10. A phosphate is recommendably used as the catalyst. |
