PURPOSE:To extremely reduce generation of porosity defects and burn through defects in executing the laser beam welding of the parts to be welded composed of aluminum alloy members so that the penetration may be through penetration. CONSTITUTION:In executing the laser beam welding of the parts to be welded composed of aluminum alloy members 1A, 1B so that the penetration may be through penetration starting from the surface on the incidence side of the laser beam and reaching the rear surface on the opposite side, a cavity C having the sectional dimensions of the width W of 1-6mm across the weld line and of the depth to the rear surface direction of 1-3mm, and extending along the weld line is formed on the rear surface side of the part to be welded. The laser beam welding is executed by feeding the inert gas as the back shield gas into this cavity C. |
