[Also in Division C3] Laminates may be prepared from a polyurethane foam sheeting having a thickness of from 0À05 to 0À5 inches, a load-bearing capacity of 0À75 to 5 1bs./sq. inch at 25% compressions 1À75 to 15 lbs./sq. inch at 50% compression and of 10 to 100 lbs./sq. inch. at 75% compression and having a density of 2 to 10 lbs./cubic foot, and a backing layer which may be a polyvinyl chloride homopolymer or copolymer, woven hessian fabric, woven hessian with needled jute fibres or a flooring felt impregnated with a resinous binder such as asphalt, polyvinyl acetate or a synthetic rubber. Where a polyvinyl chloride copolymer is used as the backing layer, a vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate or vinyl chloride/vinylidene chloride copolymer is preferred. The foam and the backing layer are conveniently bonded using a polyurethane or polyvinyl acetate adhesive or by flame-sticking. |
