PURPOSE: To automatically adjust a printing speed by providing a means for adjusting the speed of a motor when an adjusted strobe time is within a range given a stepping time as a result of the comparison of the strobe time with the length of a stepping motor driving signal. CONSTITUTION: When the power supply of a barcode printer 10 is turned ON to automatically control a printing speed, a microprocessor 18 measures the resistance value of a printing head 12 in a block 30 and subsequently judges whether the feed system used in the printer 10 is a direct system or a transfer system in a block 32 and, in the case of the direct system, the processor 18 advances to a block 34 from the block 32. In the block 34, the processor 18 sets the strobe time of the head 12 to a default set value, for example, of 2020 msec. Thereafter, the processor 18 adjusts the value of the strobe time set in the block 34 of the resistance of the printing head measured in the block 30. |
