CONSTITUTION:This process for detecting the presence of a mutagenic substance in a specimen or determining the amount of the substance is characterized by the use of a host microorganism transformed with a luminescent vector containing a recombinant gene containing an SOS gene expressed by the damage of a DNA and a gene expressing luciferase activity and positioned at the downstream of the SOS gene, the cultivation of the host microorganism in a medium containing a specimen to be examined and the determination of the luminescence caused by the expression of the gene expressing the luciferase activity.
