PURPOSE:To obtain a compound useful as a radiation sensitizer for promoting inactivation by the irradiation of an intractable hypoxia cell existing in malignant tumor. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I [X is formula II or formula III (Y is a halogen, OR1, etc.; R1 is a 1-8C alkyl)], e.g. 1-(2'-hydroxy-3'-chloropropyl)-3- nitrotriazole. This compound of formula I is obtained by reacting, e.g. 3- nitro-1,2,4-triazole with an epihalohydrin and then, as necessary, adding amines or alcohols to the reactional product. The compound of formula I has low toxicity and the high sensitizing effect and it remarkably increases sensitivity of a hypoxia cell to radiation and increases effect of radiation treatment. |
