PURPOSE:To improve responsiveness of differential restraint at the initial stage of differential generation in the case of using a viscous clutch as a differential restraining mechanism to restrain a differential of a differential mechanism in a drive device for a vehicle constituted to transmit engine driving force to left and right wheels through the differential mechanism and a pair of drive shafts connected to it. CONSTITUTION:A motor to give driving torque in the direction to restrain a differential at the time when a differential mechanism (planetary gear 20) is differentiated to drive shafts 22L, 22R for a specified period of time is respectively arranged on each of the drive shafts 22L, 22R, and consequently, differential restraint by a viscous clutch 32 at the initial stage of differential generation is assisted.
