PURPOSE:To provide a method of driving a DC type plasma display panel enhanced in the resolution of an image and excellent in contrast by setting a second cathode switch in a closed state during a cathode charge storage period. setting a cathode switch in the closed state during a display discharge period and further, simultaneously setting the cathode switch and the second cathode switch in an opened state in the latter half of the cathode charge storage period. CONSTITUTION:A second cathode switch is provided between a second resistor and a cathode in respective DC circuits, and in a certain display cell, the second cathode switch is set to a closed state in the cathode charge storage period TC1-TC5, and the cathode switch is set to a closed state in the display discharge period TS, and further, the cathode switch and the second cathode switch are set to an opened state simultaneously in the latter half in the cathode charge storage period TC1-TC5. Thus, prescribed charge is stored on the cathode and stray capacitance Cs existing between the cathodes in the cathode charge storage period TC1TC5. On the other hand, in a cathode high impedance period Tx in the opened state simultaneously, no charge is supplied to a cathode side, and the potential of the cathode is lowered. |
