The connector consists of fixing straps made up of tightening sections (5) which are clamped on the external surface of the pipe ends (1,2) and an axial coupling up piece (6) for the joining of half straps (5). The pipes are made from a thermoplastic material reinforced with an external structure made up of assemblies of wire in a matrix. Each strapping section, fixed on a longitudinal section of the pipe ends, has a length at least greater than thirty times the diameter of the wire threads which make up the structure of the pipe.
