摘要 PURPOSE:To improve charge/discharge cycle life characteristics so as to provide a metal oxidized hydrogen battery of high performance and reliability without unevenness by satisfying two specified requirements of rare earth based hydrogen storage alloy, a main material of a negative electrode. CONSTITUTION:For example, a nickel hydrogen battery is so formed that hydrogen storage alloy electrode 1 is wound along with non-sintering nickel oxide electrode 2 via a separator 3 so as to be inserted into a battery can 4, an electrolyte composed of a solution of calcium hydroxide and lithium hydroxide is injected, and then the can 4 is airtightedly sealed via an insulated gasket 9 by a sealing board 7 provided with a positive electrode terminal 6 to which positive electrode lead 5 is welded. Then, the hydrogen storage alloy of the electrode 1 is required to satisfy the following two requirements. It contains yttrium of 0.005-0.1wt% and specific surface area is 20m<2>/g or less in a measurement value by BET method, when it is hydrogeneted and crushed under the conditions of 2-30 deg.C at temperature and 5-10 atmospheric pressure at hydrogen pressure.
