<p>PURPOSE:To provide an active matrix type liquid crystal display device which does not increase the number of production stages, is fast in signal processing capacity and is capable of making image display with high fineness. CONSTITUTION:This liquid crystal display device has parallel arranged gate lines 11, signal lines 10 which are parallel arranged orthogonally with these gate lines 11, thin-film transistors(TFTs) 12 which are arranged in the respective intersected points of the gate lines 11 and the signal lines 10, pixel electrodes 7 and liquid crystal layers which are arranged between these pixel electrodes 7 and upper transparent electrodes. These TFTs 12 consist of active layers 2 arranged on an insulating substrate 1, source electrodes 6 and source electrodes 5 arranged apart from each other on these active layers 2 and gate electrodes 9 arranged via gate insulating layers 8 on the channel regions of the active layers 2. The extension parts of the source electrodes 6 constitute the pixel electrodes 7. The active layers 2 consist of parts consisting essentially of polycrystalline silicon and parts consisting essentially of amorphous silicon. At least the parts in contact with the gate insulating layers 8 are the parts consisting essentially of the polycrystalline silicon.</p> |
