PURPOSE:To provide a method for efficiently graphitizing an isotropic high- density sintered material of carbon without causing pin-holes on surface texture resulting by oxidation. CONSTITUTION:In a method for graphitizing treatment by graphitizing a baked material of carbon having an isotropic high-density texture obtained by baking and carbonizing a carbonaceous formed article formed by a hydrostatic press (CIP) in a state embedded in a packing material by a graphitizing furnace by heating to 2,600-3,000 deg.C, after completion of transmission of electricity for graphitizing treatment, water is sprinkled or sprayed on the top of the graphitizing furnace at the furnace temperature in the range of 800-400 deg.C to forcedly cool the graphitizing furnace. The starting temperature of the forced cooling is set at 800-700 deg.C. |
