The lock has two jaws (M1,M2) mounted on pivots (6,7) near the centre of the jaws. The jaws rotate on these pivots to clamp or release a rod (A) fixed under the cover (12). The jaws have an inclined plane (9) in their lower opening. A bolt (P) moves between the jaws acting on the inclined plane to engage the lock and is withdrawn to release the lock. The inside of the jaws have a lip that engages a block (N) sliding on the rod (A) fixed to the cover. The block is trapped inside the jaws when the bolt is in place, preventing removal of the cover. The jaws open under the action of a spring (R1) to allow the block to pass when the bolt is removed. The bolt can be actuated electromagnetically, hydraulically or pneumatically, either directly or through a bellows.
