a FSR (force sensing registar) surrounding the platen and changing in its characteristic resistance with the impact from the pin of the head; a motor being provided on a side of the carriage return shaft and regulating the interval between the platen and the head; a resistance connected to the FSR in series and detecting a voltage according to the change of the FSR's characteristic resistance; and a controller for converting the characteristic resistance and the distributed voltage according to the resistance to digital values, comparing the converted digital value with a predetermined reference value and driving the motor according to the result of the comparison.
