The procedure, for use when blood is being treated extracorporeally, e.g. by haemodialysis, in which the blood and a treatment liquid are circulated on either side of a semipermeable exchanger membrane, comprises: (i) circulating successively through the exchanger three treatment liquids with a characteristic (Cd) which is linked to at least one of the indicative parameters of the treatment (Cb, D, K, Kt/V), the value of the characteristic in the first liquid before the exchanger being different from the value of the characteristic in the second liquid before the exchanger, which is different in turn to the value for the third liquid before the exchanger; measuring two values (Cd1in, Cd1out; Cd2in, Cd2out; Cd3in, Cd3out) for the characteristic (Cd) before and after the exchanger respectively; and (ii) calculating at least one value of at least one indicative parameter for the progress of the treatment from the measured values for the characteristic (Cd) in the first, second and third liquids. |
