PURPOSE: To improve the triboelectric chargeability of carrier particles by bringing particles coated with a fluorohydrocarbon polymer and used as a carrier into contact with a basic soln. contg. a reducing agent. CONSTITUTION: Carrier particles coated with a polyfluorohydrocarbon polymer are brought into contact with a basic soln. contg. a reducing agent for the particles or further contg. an oxidizing agent for the particles if necessary. The oxidizing agent is selected from among peroxydisulfates (S2 O8 <2-> ) and peroxymonosulfates (SO5 <2-> ). The reducing agent is selected from among reducing oxo sulfur ions, preferably HSO3 <-> , SO3 <2-> , S2 O4 <2-> , S2 O5 <2-> and S2 O7 <2-> . A basic substance in the basic soln. is, e.g. KOH, NaOH, (CH3 )4 NOH.5H2 O, NaNH2 or Na2 CO3 . |
