<p>PURPOSE:To expand the measurable range of a line of sight direction in a line of sight direction detection apparatus. CONSTITUTION:A retina-imaged output from a camera 4 by a coaxial illuminator 1 which is coaxial with the optical axis of the camera 4 and which casts invisible light on an eyeball 13 and by non-coaxial illuminators 2, 3 is A/D converted, and it is stored in an image memory 6 as image data. On the basis of the image data, a cornea-reflected image by the coaxial illuminator is extracted by a first cornea-reflected-image extraction part 7, and a pupil center is computed by a retina-reflected-image extraction part 8. Cornea-reflected images by the non-coaxial illuminators in a plurality are extracted by a second cornea-reflected-image extraction part 9, and a reflected image which is closest to the retina-reflected image by the coaxial illuminator is selected out of the retina-reflected images in a plurality. A line of sight direction is computed and output by a line of sight direction computation part 10 on the basis of the cornea-reflected image by the coaxial illuminator, of the pupil center and of the selected cornea-reflected image by the non-coaxial illuminators. Thanks to the non-coaxial illuminators from a plurality of positions, a measurable range is made wide, and the accuracy of a measurement is enhanced.</p> |
