LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY ELEMENT AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To provide a liquid crystal display element excellent in resistance to high temp. and high humidity. CONSTITUTION:This liquid crystal display element is provided with one pair of electrode substrates 12, 13 formed with electrodes on surfaces opposing to each other, a liquid crystal 14 held between one pair of the electrode substrates 12, 13 and a sealing material 15 to seal the surroundings of the liquid crystal 14 between one pair of the electrode substrates 12, 13. The sealing material 15 contains a orientation controlling layer material 16. The deterioration of display quality of the liquid crystal display element in the periphery of the sealing material 15 is suppressed even in a severe environment such as high temp. or high humidity by catching impurities contained in the sealing material, impurities affecting the orientation controlling layer in the liquid crystal panel and impurities brought with moisture infiltrating from the outside by the orientation controlling layer material 16 in the sealing material 15.
