PURPOSE:To project an image whose color balance is excellently corrected on a surface to be projected and to make it available for application by providing color resolution synthesis system provided with plural image display means displaying proper color beam images on respective divided polarizing optical paths. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with a polarizing beam division element (polarizing beam splitter) 4 as a polarization division means, liquid crystal panels 15-18 as respective image display means, a polarizing beam synthesis element (polarizing beam splitter), etc., as a polarization synthesis means, and first and second polarization optical paths are synthesized by a polarization synthesis means 9. Then, a luminous flux outgoing from a white color light source is divided into two luminous fluxes of an S polarization component and a P polarization component by the polarizing beam division element, and by repeatedly providing the liquid crystal panels for red (R) in respective optical paths (color resolution synthesis system) of divided luminous fluxes, the liquid crystal panels for insufficient red (R) are provided repeatedly. Thus, a color image with excellent color balance is obtained without impairing brightness of a projected image. |
