PURPOSE:To ensure the restart or continuation of operation with high efficiency for a digital image forming device when a trouble occurs by performing the control to carry out an operation related to occurrence of an error to the next storage area of an image memory. CONSTITUTION:The image date supplied from a scanner part via an image data input part 61, are stored in an image memory 64. Then the image data are processed at a processing part 62 end stored in a hard disk 66b via the memory 64. The memory 64 and the disk 66b have the capacity of about 16M bytes and 500M bytes respectively. The image data stored in the memory 66b are supplied to a data output part 63 via the memory 64 when the images ere formed on a form. If a reading error occurs when the image data are read out of the memory 64 by a CPU 65, the CPU 65 reeds out the date to the next storage area of the memory 64. Meanwhile a data writing operation is also carried out to the next storage area of the memory 64.
