Cutting curds into pieces comprises passing two sets of parallel blades, perpendicular to each other (6 and 8) through the curds contained in a hemispherical vessel (1). The two sets of blades may be mounted on separate shafts. The blades at right angles to the central shaft (6) are passed through the curds twice by rotating the shaft through 180 deg . then moving it horizontally through 90 deg and rotating again. The blades parallel to the central shaft are then turned through the curds through 180 deg to cut them into cubes. Also claimed is an appts. for cutting curds in which the cutting blades (6 and 8) are coplanar. They are held in place by a centering ring (7) at their periphery. The blades perpendicular to the dia. (6) may have free ends, and no ring. The central shaft is rotated by a manual handle (10) or other powered means.
