A dynamic filter system having a rotor with retractable shearing elements is disclosed. The shearing elements are mounted to a shearing element support of the rotor and are displaceable between a retracted position in which said shearing elements are within a predetermined first periphery of said shearing element support, and an operative position in which said shearing elements are radially protruding from said shearing element support and extend within a predetermined second periphery of said shearing element support.
