The unit consists of a threaded rod (1) which is fixed by one of its ends to a base (7) and on which can be placed a nut (2). In this nut is provided a hole which passes through it at an inclined axis of 2 to 15 deg. to that of the axis of the threaded hole and also cuts this axis. This hole is slightly larger than the size of the threaded nut. A stirrup (3) can slide up and down the rod (1) with a head which when engaging with a recess (6) in the nut, enables adjustment by screwing the head of the nut. When disengaged the nut can tilt so that it can be adjusted in height by a sliding action with the thread disengaged.
