A measurement plate (1b) has at least one row (F-N) of sensors (2) which yield a signal corresp. to the coverage of the object (O) being measured. The light sensitive sensors respond to the light intensity values arising when covered by the textile object. Alternatively, the sensors can be press. sensitive and respond to press. caused by the textile object when placed on them. They can respond to local press. points exerted by the hands of the operator holding the textile object at its ends.
