Phthalzine and other condensed pyridazine cpds. of formula R<1>-Q<1>-B-Q<2>-R<2> (I) are new. In (I): Q<1>= -(A<1>)a(-M<1>)b(-A<2>)c(-M<2>)d; Q<2> = -(-M<2>)3(-A<3>)f(-M<4>)g(-A<4>)h-; B = an aromatic gp. of formula (II); R<1>, R<2> = H; CN; F; Cl; or a 1-20C alkyl gp. (with or without asymmetrical C atoms), in which 1 or more CH2 gps. may be replaced by -O-, -S-, -CO-, -CS-, -CH=CH-, -C=C-, cyclopropan-1,2-diyl, -Si(Me)2-, 1,4-phenylene (Phe), trans-1,4-cyclohexylene (Cyc) or trans-1,3-cyclopentylene, without adjacent O and S atoms, and/or 1 or more H atoms may be replaced by F, Cl, Br, OR<3>, SCN, OCNor N3 or by one of the (optically active or racemic) gps. of formulae (IIA-R): R<4>-CH(X)-Y-O- (IIIQ); R<4>-O-CH(Me)-Y-O- (IIIR); X = Cl, F or CN; Y = -CO- or -CH2-; R<3>, R<4>, R<5>, R<6>, R<7> = H; or a 1-16C alkyl gp. (with or without asymmetrical C atoms), in which 1 or more CH2 gps. may be replaced by -O- or -CH=CH-, without adjacent O atoms, and/or 1 or more H atoms may be replaced by F or Cl; or R<4>R<5> may also = -(CH2)4- or (CH2)5- if attached to an oxirane, dioxolane, tetrahydrofuran, tetrahydropyran, butyrolactone or valerolactone system; Y<1>,Y<2>,Y<3>,Y<4> = C-H, C-F or N; M<1>, M<2>, M<3>, M<4> = -O-, -S-, -CO-, -CO-O-, -O-CO-, -O-CO-O-, -CO-S-, -S-CO-, -CS-O-, -O-CS-, -S-CS-S-, -O-CS-O-, -S-CO-S-, -CS-, -CH2-O-, -O-CH20, -CH2-S-, -S-CH2-, -CH=CH-, -C=C- or a single bond; A<1>, A<2>, A<3>, A<4> = Phe, pyridin-2,5-diyl,naphtha-2,6-diyl or bicyclo(2.2.2)-octan-1,4-diyl, in which 1 or more H atoms may be replaced by F, Cl and/or CN; pyrazin-2,5-diyl, pyradazin-3,6-diyl, pyrimidin-2,5-diyl or thiphenyl-2,5-diyl, in which 1 or 2 H atoms may be replced by F, Cl and/or Cn; 1,3-thiazol-2,4- or -2,5-diyl orthiphen-2,4-diyl,in which 1 H atom may be replaced by F, Cl or CN; Cyc, in which 1 or 2 H atoms may be replaced by CN and/or Me; 1,3,4-thiadiazol-2,5-diyl; 1,3-dioxan-2,5-diyl; 1,3-dithian-2,5-diyl; piperazin-1,4-or -2,5-diyl; 1,3-dioxan-2,5-diyl; 1,3-dithian-2,5-diyl; pipeazin-1,4-or -2,5-diyl; 1,3-dioxaborinan-2,5-diyl; or a B gp.; a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h = 0 or 1.
