The shaft engine comprises a cylinder having at least one spark plug and at least one raised air chamber. Each raised air chamber has an extension tube extending outwardly from the cylinder. A piston is moved up and down in the cylinder by the ignition of a fuel gas introduced into the cylinder, the ignition being accomplished by the spark plug. At least one cylinder shaft is respectively received in the at least one raised air chamber and the corresponding extension tube. The cylinder shaft is reciprocated by the piston to move a crank shaft outside the cylinder. Each cylinder shaft is peripherally mounted with seal rings to seal the gap between the extension tube in which it is mounted. The cylinder shaft has a longitudinal air passage which communicates, as the piston reciprocates, with the raised air chamber for exhausting gas from the cylinder to the surrounding atmosphere. |
