Fabric support for hand painting of silk

摘要

Silk fabrics or cut and partially sewn silk garment parts are painted while held in position with a self-adhesive synthetic film. The film is attached without creases to the back of the fabric or the inside of the garment part and removed after painting is complete. The film is pref. a clear transparent film and the pattern is placed below the film so that the contours show through the silk fabric. Parting lines are painted along the outlines with a fine brush and the pattern is then removed. The design is coloured in and the film peeled off. The colours are fixed with a hot iron or with steam and the fabric is washed when any adhesive residues from the film can also be removed. The silk fabric is pref. satin, crepe de Chine or strong pongee silk. The silk and film of suitable quality can be supplied as a kit.
