<p>A combination of compounds capable of forming an odour barrier for trapping/blocking odours especially in relation to a toilet, urinal or other aqueous based waste container/vehicle/pipe/drain, and a method for its use. The combination comprises at least two components wherein the first component is capable of reacting with the second component to form an odour barrier capable of trapping/blocking odours about a medium selected from a group consisting of an odour containing/releasing medium and a medium to receive odour containing/releasing material. Specific preferred examples include combinations wherein the first component comprises an effervescent alkaline compound (e.g. NaHCO3, KCO3) and the second component comprises an acid, at least one of these including a foam forming surfactant. When combined, the components preferably form, as a barrier, a foam, a gaseous layer or a combination thereof. The medium is generally an aqueous based medium above which the barrier layer rests.</p> |
