<p>A heat exchanger, esp. for condensing (prior to removal) the moisture present in compressed air, circulates the compressed air in one circuit formed of interconnected finned tubes. The cooling medium flows in a second joined tube circuit, closely adjacent the first circuit and with their flow almost contacting. The restricted gaps between the two sets of finned tubes are filled with moist material which freezes, thereby storing energy when the cooling medium is flowing, and emits the energy during subsequent stages. The intermediate material may be sand, metal, powder, cement agglomerate or hydraulic line soaked in water or other liq. medium which can freeze solid. The finned tube packet is divided into three separate circuits of which the first receives the moist air, while the thrid circuit holds dry air.</p> |
