PURPOSE:To make a device compact and rapidly handle sheets of paper by providing a paper arranging mechanism which is moved together with a handling part in the conveying mechanism part of a paper handling device for bills and the like and arranging said sheets of paper when said holding part is in a released condition. CONSTITUTION:A conveying mechanism part receives sheets of paper 14 by grasping the sheets of paper which are piled up at random, in a lump by means of its holding part 15 and conveys and delivers the sheets of paper to another place. And, a paper arranging mechanism 23 which is moved together with the holding part 15 is provided in this conveying mechanism part, and the paper arranging mechanism 23 is operated to arrange the sheets of paper 14 when the holding part 15 is in a released condition during the time from the receipt of the sheets of paper to the delivery of the paper to another place. That is, when a driving motor 36 is rotated, driving cams 29, 32 are rotated and a movable stopper 25 is moved in parallel in the direction as shown by the arrow R. The stopper 25 is moved from its retracted position to a position opposite to the advancing direction of the sheets of paper 14 to the holding part 15 to serve as the stopper of the sheets of paper 14 at its initial action, and it arranges the sheets of paper at its second stage action. |
