A clutch booster (10) for use in heavy duty vehicles is arranged between a clutch and a clutch pedal (13) and interacts with a push-rod unit (30). Hydraulic pressure from a hydraulic cylinder (14) is transferred to a relay piston (16) of the booster via a hydraulic port (12) and a hydraulic passageway (15). A piston rod (17) of the relay piston opens a poppet valve (18) mounted on a pneumatic port (11) in a booster body (10) according to the movement of the relay piston. Pneumatic pressure is transferred to a pneumatic cylinder (40) with a piston (20) having a piston rod (42). A relay piston (43) of the push-rod unit interacts with the pneumatic piston rod and an extended, spring-biased rod (46) so as to operate a swing lever (21) and a clutch release bearing (22). For the wear compensation, the pneumatic cyinder is formed longer than the conventional one so as to provide a proper clearance (A).
