A porous polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) structure suitable for use as an oil transfer component for coating or wiping a roll in a fuser system of a copying machine has a fibrillated surface. The PTFE structure is formed from particles of granular-type polytetrafluoroethylene fused together to form a porous integral network of interconnected particles, and is produced by casting a PTFE suspension onto e.g. a mesh and drying, so that the PTFE engulfs at least some of the wires of the mesh.
