PURPOSE:To activate purifying capacity within an extremely short time at the start time of an engine. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst converter 1 purifying the exhaust gas of an engine has a honeycomb member 10 formed by alternately superposing metal corrugated plates 11 molded by continuous bending and flat strip like metal flat plates 12 to form gas passages 5 and the outer cylinder 9 provided to the outer periphery of the honeycomb member 10. In at least one of the upstream and downstream sides 51, 52 of the gas passages 5, either one of the side ends of the corrugated plates 11 or flat plates 12 protrude from the other ends of the other flat plates 12 or the corrugated plates. These prodruding ends 110 pref. protrude to the upstream sides 51 of the gas passages 5. The side ends of the corrugated plates 11 pref. protrude from the side ends of the flat plates 12. The honeycomb member 10 is formed by winding and laminating the corrugated plates and flat plates alternately in a wound form. |
