PURPOSE:To obtain a treating agent effective for capturing polyvalent metal ion and obtain a stable synthetic short fiber having high quality by adding a chelating agent to an anionic active agent used as a main component. CONSTITUTION:This treating agent for synthetic fiber is produced by adding 1-30wt.% (based on the active component of the treating agent) of a chelating agent to an anionic active agent used as a main component, e.g. a higher alcohol sulfuric acid ester alkali metal salt or phosphoric acid ester alkali metal salt, especially phosphoric acid ester alkali metal salt. The agent is insusceptible to the influence of polyvalent metal ion such as calcium or magnesium ion, keeps the process stability in a post-processing step, gives excellent curd- passability and antistaticity and especially reduces the crimp unevenness in the crimping process. The preferable examples of the chelating agent are tripolyphosphoric acid salt and citric acid salt. |
