PURPOSE:To obtain a galvanic cell gas sensor which can detect a plurality of kinds of gases with a single sensor by utilizing the merits of the galvanic cell gas sensor and polar gas sensor. CONSTITUTION:The title gas sensor is constituted principally of a working electrode 2 for causing a gas to make an electrochemical oxidative or reductive reaction, facing electrodes 5 composed of a reductive or oxidative active substance, electrolyte 7, and container 1 for housing them. Since one working electrode 2 and two or more facing electrodes 5a and 5b of different kinds are provided, the facing electrode to be combined with the working electrode 2 can be arbitrarily selected from the two electrodes 5a and 5b in accordance with the kind of a gas to be detected. |
