A tube extrusion press has an axially movable die carrier 6 and a run-out system including a chain or slat conveyer 12 which are movable together by a common drive unit 19. The carrier 6 for the die 5 is connected by links 8 with a roller conveyer 10 which is coupled to the chain or slat conveyer 12 mounted on wheels 16 running on rails 17 whose height is adjustable by links 21 and a power unit 22. After extrusion the discard 3 and dummy block 4 are severed by a saw 2. The conveyers and the die carrier 6 are then movable axially to facilitate removal of the discard, by hydraulic cylinder 18. The conveyer belt 12 is mounted on reversing rollers 13, 14 which may be driven in synchronism with the extrusion press. Reference is made to the extrusion of light metal. |
